It is not necessary that you have to convert to androidX now,but keep that in mind all of the future development is going into androidX.

Secodnly tell me how you are using android jetPack component without androidx? I think its not possible as far as I know because it is clearly mention above and also in android developer guide that jetpack comprises the androidx packages libraries! make me correct if I am wrong!
